Today was such a sweet day! Tommy baptized TJ into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had two requests... one - was that Tommy not shave off his goatie. I have NO idea why?...and two - was that he get baptized in Spanish. I thought that was so cool! Tommy kept asking TJ over and over on both things and he wouldn't change his mind, so Tommy did both. For as long as I can remember, TJ has always wanted to learn Spanish, but this really all stems back from the birth mother that we've become such good friends with. Shonda said that she wanted her baby to learn Spanish, so that got all of us excited about it. We started singing songs at Family Home Evening is Spanish, and Tommy would tell us how to say things all of the time. I bought a few children's books in Spanish and etc, etc. So, one day, Tommy was showing TJ what was going to happen at the baptism. How to stand, and what he would say etc, and then Tommy told him the prayer in Spanish. TJ thought it was really cool, so he asked Tommy if he could get baptized in Spanish. Tommy said, "I guess so, if that is what you want." Well, needless to say, that is what TJ wanted and he never changed his mind. My brother-in-law, Fred (who is from Bolivia) and Tommy's brother, Jade, (who went on a mission to Equador) both knew Spanish so they were the witnesses of the baptism. Both my dad and Tommy's dad said the opening and closing prayer and our mom's gave the talks. I made a little video of TJ's life so far, and we played it while Tommy and TJ got dressed. It turned out really good. Thank goodness, because it took A LOT of time! Tons and family and friends came. Tommy's sister and her family went to our church clear out in booneyville instead of to our stake center so they ended up just missing the actual baptism. I felt so bad for them. I put the address on the invitation but they must have missed it. It all turned out so nice though. Even TJ's birth great grandparents Elvin and Betty came. That was AWESOME! Afterwards we had cookies and then some of us went to eat at a little Mexican Restaurant in town called "Melinas". It was good as usual! What a great day!!!
