Well today started off okay. I took the kids to a gardening class at 9 this morning. I learned a lot during the few moments that I wasn't being distracted by my kids. I am still not entirely conviced that THEY learned anything though. I am not sure if I will bring them to the next one, but we will see. Okay, so here is the thing.... we have had a few gardens before but for the most part Tommy is the head gardener. I tried to do one several years ago and we did get great crops out of it, but soon the weeds completely took over and eventually I gave up. Since then we use the black weed block and Tommy always keeps it watered so there isn't much for me to do. Other then enjoy the sweet benefits of fresh garden vegatables. Well, our garden last year was kind of a bomb, except for the tomatoes. So, this year I have made super huge goal that I really am going to weed and take care of an awesome garden. (We'll see!!) So, after we got home from our class and I was all filled with excitement about our garden I began working on our garden spot. I raked and raked tons of dead weeds into a big pile. All of our kids helped too. Eventually, Tommy took about an hour break from working on our house and came and started the weeds on fire. I kept raking the best I could, but it would get so hot sometimes that I would turn my back to the fire and rake into it. I kept thinking that something that we were burning stunk so bad. In fact, I said it out loud a few times. I wondered if Tommy was raking something weird into the fire. After it was all said and done, I didn't think much about it.

Later in the afternoon, we went to Tommy's parents house. Tommy went to brush his hand through my ponytail and asked me what was in my hair. Then he took a better look and just about died. He said, "Lorraine, you have GOT to see your hair!" I reached back and felt it and almost all of my ponytail had been badly singed. Then I about died!! Luckily Jeanne loves to cut hair, so she gave me a knew haircut.

I was so glad that for one, I love short hair and two, I am not so in love with my hair (being the longest it has ever been) that I was completely devastated knowing that I was going to have to cut most of it off. I actually had been thinking about getting a haircut anyway but this made my decision. I was kind of sad to see it go, but short hair always feels SO great!! So, apparently that bad stink I kept smelling was my own HAIR burning. Oops!
