Call the Fire Department QUICK!

Today my friend, Laurel, called and asked if I could see a fire in between our houses. Tommy has taught us all to enjoy searching for fires, so the kids and I hopped in the car and went for a drive. About 1 mile East of us a pasture of sage brush had started on fire. I was the third one on the scene even before the fire trucks got there. They figure that someone threw a cigarette butt out the window. How sad. We watched the fire and within minutes it had spread clear across the pasture. The people that lived close had to hurry and get there horses out of there, because the horses were pinned in and had no where to go. It seemed like FOREVER before the fire trucks got there. My poor neighbor had to stand right in the middle of the thick smoke forever spraying the electrical pole with a hose to keep the box from catching on fire or melting. He was choking and gagging so bad. I offered to go home and get him a longer hose, but he said it would be too late. I decided to anyway, and as I was leaving to go home, one of the fire trucks got there, thank goodness. Today was so windy, so that made it all worse. It took quite a while for them to put it out, but eventually they did. It had burned up quite a bit of land, but luckily it didn't reach any of the nearby houses. All in all though, it was pretty exciting for the kids to see!
